Dana Draper’s art begins as large copper sheets, and evolves into form using oxides and acids to obtain naturally etched color patinas.   To achieve copper luster and illusions of depth portions of the copper surfaces are etched.  Patina’s and chemical mixtures are applied by hand in a method similar to paint in order to obtain the most natural colors.  Next, clear acrylic and wax are applied to inhibit further oxidation.
